While you do not need to write notes on everything you read, taking effective notes is a vital element to a successful AP class experience.

1. You are expected and required to take all class notes.

2. Regarding your class readings, ask yourself the questions below to guide you as you take your excellent notes.

• Do the notes you are taking connect to the key concepts?

• Do the notes build understanding of the thematic learning objectives?

• Are the facts, persons, or events you are taking notes on noteworthy?

• Can you understand your notes in a month or two?
